Receiving protocol:
- CDT Electrolytes – 2 scoops of electrolytes into 2 quarts warm water. Give in a bottle.
- Offer fresh, warm water in buckets.
- Onset IN 2 cc intranasally
- BoSe 3 cc SQ
Feeding Protocol:
Bottles
- Label each bottle with an individual calf ID number.
- Feed each calf daily with the same bottle.
- Cleaning
- Rinse in hot water
- Soak in 10% bleach solution
- Dry bottles/nipples upside down to allow for drainage.
Milk Replacer
- Feed Merrick’s 20/20 egg protein milk replacer.
- Feed twice daily. Record how much milk the calf drank on the feeding sheet.
- Mixing instructions
- Fill bottles with almost 2 quarts of warm/hot water.
- Measure temperature. The temperature of the water needs to be better 110-120 degrees F.
- Add 2 cups (8 oz) of milk replacer to the bottle.
- Shake the bottle well until all the milk replacer is dissolved.
- Feed this bottle within 5 minutes of mixing.
Starter Feed
- Give fresh feed once daily.
- Starting at day 1, give 2 handfuls of feed.
- Offer more feed to individual calves as they eat all of their feed.
Water
- Wash water buckets once daily and dirty buckets as needed.
- Fill buckets with fresh, warm water twice daily.
Treatment Protocol:
- Please make note of any sick or slow animals.
- A veterinarian will evaluate the calves on a daily basis.
Bedding Protocol:
- Bed calves once daily and as needed
